A vehicular bridge over a river made from Contech Aluminum Structural Plate.

Aluminum Structural Plate

Lightweight for Easy Installation. Aluminum Structural Plate provides all the advantages of steel MULTI-PLATE and its light weight adds to the ease of installation compared to other structures. It weighs 1/50 as much as reinforced concrete pipe, reducing assembly and equipment costs and allowing for easy handling of long preassembled structures.

Aluminum Structural Plate offers designers and DOT’s unparalleled durability, design strength and speed of construction. The combination of lightweight material and variety of shapes and sizes also makes this product excellent in reline or rehabilitation applications.

Benefits of Aluminum Structural Plate:

  • Buried Bridge Structure - Reduces maintenance costs and lowers life cycle costs as there are no bridge deck or joints at the deck/roadway interface.
  • Modular Bridge System - Rapid installation results in reduced overall project costs, delays and detours.
  • Designed “Site Specific” - Meets your site needs in full compliance with AASHTO, ASTM & AREMA design standards for highway and railway use.
  • Easy Site-Adaptability - Flexible layout options to fit within the right-of-way – curve the structure with a stream or adjust for vertical and horizontal clearance requirements.

The Contech Design Center

The Contech Design Center provides engineers unparalleled flexibility in the layout and configuration of a Contech Bridge System. Our latest release includes options previously unavailable in a free, web-based design tool:

  • A 2D/3D design environment with high resolution graphics including BIM model output.
  • The ability to import a PDF site plan and design a system to scale over the plan.
  • Provide instant access to customized, project-specific drawings.
  • Design multiple systems per project and save for future use.
  • Digitally collaborate using the new “Project Collaboration” feature. Share your project easily with anyone through the new project management page.

Relining a culvert under a rail line with structural plate.
Structural Plate for Mining Portals, Rail Tunnels and Conveyor Enclosures

Our durable Plate Structures can meet heavy duty demands for industrial or mining applications. MULTI-PLATE round arch shapes are the most widely used structures for aggregate tunnels. Special features such as hopper openings, conveyor supports, bulkheads, escape laterals and elbows to accommodate grade changes and alignment are readily integrated. Plate structures can also be utilized to extend and improve mine entrances, providing protection from falling rocks and debris.

Plate Bridges for Bridge Replacement

Plate structures allow highway agencies and municipalities to dramatically reduce construction time and traffic disruptions when replacing our nation’s aging infrastructure. Plate bridges are ideally suited for emergency bridge replacements.

Structural Plate for Storage Structures and Ammo Bunkers

Consisting of field bolted galvanized steel plates; MULTI-PLATE has a long history of strength, durability and economy. It is arranged and curved to make a variety of shapes, including round, pipe-arch, arch, and ellipse (horizontal and vertical). BridgeCor's advanced profile and variety of shapes is an ideal solution as well.

Structural Plate for Grade Separation

Our structural plate systems, including BridgeCor, MULTI-PLATE, Aluminum Structural Plate and SUPER-SPAN, are used frequently throughout the nation's infrastructure because of its light weight, durability and ease of installation. Structures can be pre-assembled on-site and lifted into place or assembled in place without the need for heavy or specialized equipment.

Structural Plate for Pedestrian and Recreation Traffic Loads

The many shapes and sizes of structural plate structures, BridgeCor, MULTI-PLATE, Aluminum Structural Plate and SUPER-SPAN, as well as their low cost and ease of installation, make them a mainstay for pedestrian and golf course bridges, overpasses, underpasses, and tunnels.

Structural Plate for Rehabilitating Bridges and Large Culverts

Bridges and large culverts can be relined by erecting our plate structures inside existing structures. Or, the new plate structure can be erected outside and threaded into existing openings. Our Plate Structures, including Two-Flange Liner Plate, are delivered to the job site unassembled. The plates and ribs are easily bolted together to form various shapes: round, vertical and horizontal ellipse, pipe-arch, underpass and arch.
